Whenever reaching out to someone you have known for a long time or a new connection you may have made on LinkedIn, make sure to ask them for advice regarding the specific job search topic you need assistance with, and never ask for help!

Simple reason, common sense (and the stats back it up) dictates that people strongly prefer to dispense advice than they do to actually help with anything. The word help is often associated with pain and/or hard work, whereas advice implies expertise, and everyone loves showing off their expertise!

So remember, ask for advice, not help!
